Pastors in the Central region have adopted the spirit of what it means to be right beside one another with the help of Jeffrey Singletary, Florida Baptist Convention Catalyst.
Willy Rice, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, had a vision to meet with pastors in the region every month for mentoring. Out of those mentoring relationships, friendships have been built that are changing the dynamics of ministry in the Central Region and emboldening the spirit of cooperation among churches and their pastors. It was through that kind of relationship that Willy Rice felt led to help John Matthews, pastor of New Philadelphia Worship Center, when his congregation began to outgrow its facilities. Rice is now committed to helping the New Philadelphia congregation find a new home.
“We have to consider collaboration more important than separation,” Matthews said. “I’m thankful for this man of God taking me under his wing,” Matthews said of Rice.
