#SendSouthFlorida – Jose Saint Hilaire & Eglise de la Grande Commission

0 1,697

Jose Saint Hilaire planted Eglise de la Grande Commission in the community of Sunrise just three years ago. In that time, this bilingual ministry has grown to 100 members. By focusing on being a Gospel influence in the area, Jose hopes the ministry will continue to grow, reaching more and more first and second generation Haitians living there.

Jose strives to combat the forces of darkness that are such a big part of Haitian culture as well as impart biblical doctrinal truths to a congregation that comes from many different church and denominational backgrounds. Yet it takes time for people to embrace truth and allow it to change their lives. Jose also has to take into consideration that many of the people he’s trying to reach work on Sundays and therefore can’t attend a traditional Sunday morning worship service.

Yet the Lord has blessed the church with a growing number of people, including students. Jose is increasingly thankful to the Lord for the increase and is currently praying about how to extend their ministry reach further into the community to accommodate those who are coming. Currently the entire congregation from children up to adults meets in one room that they rent from an area church. It’s a space, Jose said, that is not big enough to comfortably house everyone that attends much less any visitors.

With the proper resources, Jose would like to invest heavily in evangelism and Christian education because it is only through these efforts that the people of his community will truly know Jesus and the transformative power of the Gospel.

Jose and Eglise de la Grande Commission are being highlighted this week as part of the Maguire State Mission Offering’s #SendSouthFlorida initiative. For promotional materials or to find out how you can be involved visit www.flbaptist.org/send.

Will you pray for Jose Saint Hilaire and Eglise de la Grande Commission? Pray for the church as they:

  • extend their ministry to students despite their space limitations.
  • expand their evangelism efforts in the community.
  • invest in Christian education.
