Dear Pastor and Church,

I thank God for the opportunity He gives us to join in serving Him and advance the Great Commission in His kingdom work with the gospel. We have had the privilege, through many years, of being a bridge of connections for the Lord’s work from Florida to the world. Through mission trips, church planting, and partnerships with various countries we have fulfilled the Great Commission and been a blessing through churches like yours.

In the relationship we have with the Western Cuban Baptist Convention we are always looking for ways to get involved in response to their churches with this gospel. That is expressed in many ways where Florida churches have helped and connected with churches on the island through a variety of mission projects.

We can continue those expressions through aid that Florida Baptist churches are sending directly to the Western Cuban Baptist Convention for their churches. This project is called “AMA” Cuba  (“LOVE” Cuba)- each church that wishes to participate collects and sends Food (Alimentos), Medicine (Medicinas) and Personal Hygiene Items (Aseo Persona). We are praying much for our sister churches in their great need, and for their pastors and members. Now is the time, where in this close relationship of more than 100 years of brotherhood, we can continue expressing love and the gospel in word and deed.

Jesus said:

The King will answer them, “I assure you that everything you did for one of my brothers, even for the 1st, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

You will see that attached is a very specific list of items that we are collecting. These articles are a priority in helping the brethren whom we want to bless; it is the only things we are coordinating and will be allowed to send. This is simply because of logistics and priority needs.

We ask for prayers in every Florida Baptist church, and those who feel it in your heart can also assemble boxes with these items. As the instructions indicate, the items must be of equal size and go in a box designated for that specific item. The instructions clarify what the items are and how to arrange them in the box. You can also contact Vanessa Cardona (vanroddon@gmail.com or 407-721-1073) who we appreciate as she is organizing these logistic efforts with great dedication. For more information on Hispanic Ministries, Flor Ramirez (FRamirez@FlBaptist.org or 904-596-3100) will be there to serve you as well. We thank God for Dr. Myles Dowdy who as Missions and Ministry Catalyst leads these efforts, as well as for Dr. Tommy Green who has made available funding to make this possible through the generosity of Florida Baptist churches giving to the Cooperative Program.

We are preparing these items throughout the month of September. Through Churches contributing across Florida, and with the help of cooperating ministries like One More Child, we can make possible this special collection of resources for Cuba. Starting October 1, we will announce three locations in the state where boxes can be specifically dropped off. They will be in Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville. The month of September will only be to collect donations at your local church and prepare the shipment according to the instructions. We will announce specific location and dates for the drop off sites to receive these items after October 1.

Estimado pastor e iglesia,

Doy gracias a Dios por la oportunidad que nos da para unirnos en servirle y avanzar la Gran Comisión en su trabajo del reino con el evangelio. Hemos tenido el privilegio, a través de muchos años de ser un puente de conexiones para la obra del Señor desde Florida al mundo. A través de viajes misioneros, plantaciones de iglesias, y los convenios con varios países hemos cumplido la Gran Comisión y ser de bendición por medio de iglesias como la suya.

En la relación que tenemos con la Convención Bautista De Cuba Occidental siempre buscamos maneras de involucrarnos en respuesta a sus iglesias con este evangelio. Eso se expresa en muchas maneras donde iglesias de Florida han ayudado y se han conectado con iglesias en la isla en varios asuntos y de igual manera en proyectos misioneros.

Tenemos la oportunidad de continuar esas expresiones a través de ayudas que las iglesias Bautistas de Florida están enviando directamente a la Convención Bautista De Cuba Occidental para sus iglesias. Este proyecto se llama “AMA”- cada iglesia que desea participar recoge y envía Alimentos, Medicinas, y Artículos de aseo personal. Estamos orando mucho por nuestras iglesias hermanas en su gran necesidad, y también por sus pastores y miembros. Ahora es el momento que tenemos en esta relación estrecha de más de 100 años de hermandad de expresar el amor y el evangelio en palabra y acción.

Usted verá que adjunto hay un listado muy específico de artículos que estamos recogiendo. Estos artículos son de prioridad en ayuda a los hermanos a los cuales queremos bendecir; es lo único que estamos coordinando y se permitirá enviar. Esto es simplemente por logística y necesidad prioritaria.

Pedimos que en cada iglesia oren, y aquellos que así lo sientan en su corazón, puedan también armar cajas con estos artículos. Como indican las instrucciones, específicamente los artículos deben ser de igual tamaño y van en una caja designada para eso. Las instrucciones aclaran cuáles son los artículos y cómo acomodarlos en la caja. También puede contactar a la hermana Vanessa Cardona (vanroddon@gmail.com o 407-721-1073) la cual apreciamos que con gran esmero está organizando esta logística. Estamos preparándonos para que, en este mes de Septiembre, a través de todas las Iglesias Bautistas de Florida y sus ministerios cooperativos, podamos hacer esta recogida. A partir del 1 de octubre anunciaremos tres lugares en el estado donde específicamente se pueden dejar las cajas. Serán en Miami, Orlando, y Jacksonville. El mes de septiembre será solamente para recoger donativos en su iglesia local y preparar el envío de acuerdo con las instrucciones. No se pueden llevar las cajas a estos locales hasta que no se les avise a partir del 1 de Octubre.
