Super Summer Kids off to a Great Start
Last fall at the inaugural Kid Minister Retreat the idea of a kid’s ministry camp was discussed. After planning for several months, the first ever Super Summer Kids took place July 15-18, 2019, at Lake Yale Baptist Camp and Conference Center.
“In an effort to serve right beside the local church, we gave Super Summer for Kids a try,” said Billy Young, Next Generation Ministry Lead Catalyst for the Florida Baptist Convention. “This week of camp went better than expected. I was proud of the church leaders that helped plan Super Summer for Kids and the staff that we utilized.”
“Super Summer Kids was the ideal camp experience for our kids. Our leaders were equipped and empowered to partner with the camp staff to pour into our kids and help them grow closer to Christ,” said Jenny Whitaker, Children and Family Ministry Director at Bradfordville First Baptist Church. “By the end of camp, our kids not only didn’t want to leave, but they were thinking of who they would bring next year! We can’t wait to return in 2020!”
Super Summer Kids served students completed 3rd through 6th grade. Super Summer Kids staff supervised bible study and recreation, while the church leaders led church times and provide supervision for lodging.
“Super Summer Kids was fantastic!” said Amanda Peavy, Children’s Ministry Director for Church at the Cross in Orlando. “Our kids loved every minute from Bible study to the breakout activities to worship. They are already talking about next year and can’t wait to go back!”
Each day started with church group devotion and ended with church group share time. During the day students participated in a morning and evening worship service, small group Bible study and team recreation. Todd Villemont, Pastor of Children’s and Preschool Ministries preached during the morning and evening worship services while Portraits Music led worship.
“Super Summer Kids was a great experience for our children and leaders,” said Daniel Morris, children’s pastor at Parkview Baptist in Lake City. “Each bible study, worship, and breakout time were gospel focused and led with excellence by the Super Summer staff. We will definitely be back next year!”
Super Summer for Kids will take place next summer July 13-16, 2020. Find our more information at www.supersummerflorida.com. Registration information can be found at www.flbaptist.org/nextgen.
