With the support of the Florida Baptist Convention, Greater Faith Baptist Fellowship in Gainesville found new life through a revitalization effort that resulted in the sponsorship of a new church plant and the expansion of a community clinic hosted at the church.
Gary Townsend, Florida Baptist Convention Catalyst for the North region, said it’s the faith, commitment and patience of Greater Faith’s pastor James Dixon that has seen the church through good times and bad. Gary said while there are still significant needs, the future for the Greater Faith family is bright.
At the Florida Baptist State Convention meeting, Pastor James thanked the Convention for the support they needed to do more for their community.
“On Thursdays our whole church is transformed into a clinic,” he shared with the crowd of Convention messengers. “The Florida Baptist Convention allowed us to modify our facility to accommodate that clinic.”
Those funds have also allowed Greater Faith to become the sending church for Thrive Life Church in another area of the city.
Gary and Pastor James are looking forward to 2018 and the opportunities they will have to work together to impact Gainesville for the Kingdom of God.
