“We want our youth group to reflect the demographics of our community, a picture of heaven proclaiming the name of Jesus,” said Dean Williamson, who recently was named youth pastor at  First Baptist Church in Cocoa.

Student pastor Matt Sawyer worked tirelessly to get his student ministry online in 2020 when the pandemic hit, so that they could stay connected and continue learning about God.

The summer of 2020 is a unique summer, not what any of us anticipated. For the most part, traditional camps are not happening. Vacation Bible School’s may look differently. Many of our churches are finding new and creative ways to have student and kid ministry summer programs.

Family Church in West Palm Beach hosted a “Digital Disciple Now” during Easter weekend April 10-11 as a time of spiritual growth for students who have been sheltering at home, isolated from friends and church activities.

Jordan Floro, student pastor at Hibernia Baptist Church in Fleming Island, admitted the past few months had taken a toll on him. “Between a busy summer and walking with families through some difficult things, I was tired and a little worn down,” he said. But when he attended a Florida Baptist student minister retreat in September, he found a source of renewal and strength he desperately needed.
