When Pastor David Uribe planted the new church Iglesia Local in Jacksonville, he wanted to reach the Hispanic community with a bilingual ministry that would have both multigenerational and multicultural impact.

After seven years of successfully planting in one of the hardest areas of New England—Boston—Jay Mudd is now back in central Florida with a heart to multiply. 

“In the Book of Acts, Jesus sends out the disciples in twos, so the biblical pattern of church planting is sending guys out in twos,” said Noah Clifton, church planter and pastor at Pillar Church of Crestview.

A church at a skating rink might sound extreme to some. It’s definitely not what Pastor Mike Kirby originally pictured when he set out to plant a new church in Ocala in late 2019.

Planting a church is never the same twice and no two church plants are alike. This is part of what makes the people of God a great example of diversity and church planting a task not for the faint of heart.

“Send Network Florida,” a church planting partnership between the Florida Baptist Convention and North American Mission Board (NAMB), will focus on the entire Sunshine State, James Peoples, Florida Baptists’ Send City missionary with NAMB, announced at a Send Network luncheon Tuesday, Nov. 11.
