Grateful for the vision and sacrifices of previous generations that built 135-year-old Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church in McDavid, today’s church leaders agree that now “it’s our turn … to provide a place” to reach future generations with the hope of the gospel.

Struggling with membership, ministries, money, facilities and leadership, the once thriving Ferris Hill Baptist Church in Milton was at a crossroads. 

Waking up at 2:00 a.m. to prepare meals, sharpen tools, work on administrative duties or wash clothes–these are just some of the tasks associated with Florida Baptist Disaster Relief.

A new God story is unfolding in West Pensacola’s rich historic religious landscape.

As the new year dawned, a new Chinese church was launched.

They work long hours in heartbreaking situations. They dig through mud, use chainsaws to cut massive trees, cook huge batches of food before the sun rises, embrace and console those who are hurting. And they share the name of Jesus wherever they go.

For First Baptist Church of Pensacola, putting missions first is more than a slogan. It’s a commitment.

Residents in Pensacola and South Alabama are calling Hurricane Sally “Ivan’s little sister,” in memory of the Sept. 16, 2004 storm that ravaged the Florida/Alabama coast.

“In Covid-19 ministry days, churches are scrambling for ways to be the church,” said Brian Nall, executive director of the Pensacola Bay Baptist Association. “Most of that has been through a digital presence online.” Yet, food ministry is the first tangible way for churches of all sizes to reach out to communities in need, he said, “filling aching hearts and empty stomachs through boxes of hope.”
