Before heading to Louisiana to help residents of New Orleans impacted by Hurricane Ida, members of the Florida Baptist Disaster Relief team spent the last part of August helping residents of Taylor and Dixie counties deal with flooding from the Steinhatchee River.

After Hurricane Ida slammed into the U.S. mainland, leaving devastation in its wake from Louisiana to the Northeast–Florida Baptists are coming right alongside the hurting and rebuilding the only way they know how—as the hands and feet of Jesus.

As one of the strongest storms to hit the United States mainland, Hurricane Ida has left a path of destruction through Louisiana and Mississippi after winds of 150 mph, flooding and fallen debris, trees and power lines threatened lives across the Southern states.   

The tragedy of the Champlain Tower collapse in Surfside has left the South Florida community in shock.

Behind a seven-foot wall of tangled tree branches on the curb that stretches the length of her property, Betty Tuberville watched Thursday morning as disaster relief volunteers from the Southern Baptist Convention took down the trunk of a tree that had punctured her neighbor’s roof.
