Disability Ministry Church Training (Bristol)

In Calhoun and Liberty counties, 1 in 4 people live with a disability (24.6%, per Census data). When family members and caregivers are included, this issue directly touches 40% of our community. Individuals and families living with disabilities are already present in our churches and communities — they may simply not yet be meaningfully seen, equipped, or included.

You’re Invited: A Two-Session Church Training

This training is designed for pastors and church leadership teams who recognize that individuals and families living with disability are present in their congregation and community, and who want a clear plan for evangelizing and discipling them well.

When: July 18–19, 5:00–7:30 PM (dinner provided both nights)

Where: Lake Mystic Baptist Church

Led by: Joni and Friends Florida

Sponsored by: Florida Baptist Convention – West Region

Teams should plan to attend both sessions together.

What Your Team Will Do

Across the two sessions, your team will:

  • Assess your church’s current culture and readiness
  • Build a strong biblical foundation for disability ministry
  • Identify key barriers and opportunities in your context
  • Begin shaping a plan that fits your church’s mission and people

By the end of the training, your team will leave with a biblically guided, church-specific plan to intentionally reach and equip people with disabilities and their families — both in your congregation and your community.

Most churches aren’t unaware of this need; they simply don’t have a plan. This training helps you build one.

Who Should Attend

Each church is encouraged to send a team of 3–10 people representing leaders from across the church, such as pastoral staff, ministry leaders (Children’s, Youth, Men’s, Women’s, Hospitality, etc.), deacons, and volunteers with personal insight into disability. Bring the leaders who shape and guide life in your church and who will help carry out your plan.

Each attendee must RSVP using the registration link.
