Florida Baptists 2009 Committee on Nominations named
JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—A
Committee on Nominations composed of 26 pastors, 17 laypersons, three
associational directors of missions and one church staff person has
been appointed by the officers of the Florida Baptist State
Convention.
Rick Blackwood, pastor of Christ Fellowship Church, Miami, was named to chair the 49-member
committee for a second time; Rich Kincl, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Tallahassee, will serve
as vice-chairman. The officers are in the process of naming committee
members in two associations where persons declined to
serve.
The committee is made
up of one member from each of the 49 associations in the state, plus
three officers of the state convention who serve as ex-officio
members. The committee is
responsible for nominating Florida Baptists to serve on the
Convention’s boards, committees and commissions. Their
nominations must be approved by messengers during the annual meeting of
the Florida Baptist State Convention, Nov. 9-10 in Pensacola.
Any Florida Baptist
can suggest persons to serve on the governing bodies by downloading
nomination forms from the Florida Baptist Convention’s web
site: www.flbaptist.org or by contacting Patty Vansant at the Florida
Baptist Convention (800/226-8584, ext. 3016;
e-mail:
click here to e-mail). Completed forms must be
received by Vansant no later than June 15.
A list of potential vacancies on all boards and committees
can be found on the web site as well.
To meet guidelines
set by the Bylaws of the Florida Baptist State Convention, persons who
are recommended by June 15 will be sent a Nominee Qualifying
Questionnaire which must be completed and returned by July 10 for
committee
consideration.
The committee will
meet in Tampa on July
21.
